KERN CARLTON

Director of Land Acquisitions

Kern has over seven years of professional experience in the banking and commercial real estate sectors, primarily in multifamily development.

Most recently, Kern was a member of the development team at Highpoint Development in Atlanta. In his three years at Highpoint, Kern was responsible for the pursuit, capitalization, and execution of multifamily development projects throughout the Southeast.

Prior to his time at Highpoint, Kern received his MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School with concentrations in Real Estate & Capital Markets and Investments as well as an enrichment in Entrepreneurship. During his two years in Chapel Hill, Kern was a member of the Real Estate Development Club and completed a summer internship program with Rangewater Real Estate, where he focused on underwriting, market analysis, and development management.

Kern began his career with the J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Atlanta as an asset management analyst. In his three years at J.P. Morgan, Kern helped develop and execute investment strategies and banking solutions to grow the Atlanta market to over $8B in assets under management.

Kern also holds a BBA in Real Estate and Finance from the University of Georgia. Outside of work, Kern enjoys playing golf, skiing, watching football, and spending time with friends and family. He currently lives in Garden Hills with his wife, Mary Liz.
